New to disco 5
Good evening gents, I’m new to the forum but have been a LR owner for the last 23yrs, I’ve had Discovery 1,3,4, Freelander 1 and we also have an evoque which we are trading in tomorrow on a 2020 Discovery 5, it comes with a years warranty and roadside assistance, it is a LR approved used vehicle and has 42k miles, I know it’s a bit late to be asking this question but are they reliable? We have been very lucky so far and have had no issues with any of them, my Defender 90 which I’ve had for over 22yrs has never been in a garage for repairs apart from mine. So, back to my question, are disco 5’s any good?
Mike
Ps. Thanks.

Engine failure and the cost of replacement is the big risk. For the 3•0 SDV6 I don’t know if is 1 vehicle in 10 or 1 in 50 or whatever, that has this rate of engine failure (Land Rover should have a good idea what it is but won’t want to release it).. However, I would be asking the question if it is possible to extend the warranty beyond the initial 1 year warranty, even if you have to pay for it.

Hi, it has the 3•0 SDV6
I had that engine in my 2019MY and it was as sweet as anything - no trouble, and lovely to drive. Chopped it in last summer with circa 50k on the clock and still driving beautifully. Yes, some people have engine issues, but as the OP says, what the actual statistic is, I don't know.
What I wouldn't ever want to do is own a D5 without LR warranty cover, so make sure you budget for that in years 2, 3 etc (unless you have deep pockets to fund potentially big costs such as a new engine).
Enjoy the car, and do post some pics when she arrives!

Had my 3ltr HSE Lux for last 3 years with no problems at all and been all over Europe which was a very enjoyable ride. You must have extended warranty for peace of mind but other than that just enjoy. You will never treat it the same as a Disco 3 or 4 as they were work luxury work horses and did/do everything you can throw at them but the 5 is really much more luxurious. Mind you, mine is learning to carry the odd load!
