2020 Discovery SDV6 SE Fuji White

    Buying a used Disco 5 2020

    Hi all,

I am buying a used 2020 Land Rover Discovery 5 SDV6 Landmark Edition with 40,000 miles on. I currently have a Mercedes GLC that's just a bit to small for my liking with a young child and a large dog.

I am in Cyprus and buying it with 1 year dealership (Not Land Rover) warrenty on Gearbox and Engine, it's imported from the UK like a lot of cars over here, it has the full serivce history that looks good to me. I've always wanted a Disco, my Dad had a Disco 4 and Mum has a Disco 5 2018. Wanted to import my Dad's Disco 4 from the UK, but since brexit it's made it super expensive and due to the emissions it'd be really expensive to tax. It had 38k miles in 13 years, he's just part exchanged it for a smaller car and was gutted to be getting rid of it.

Anyway, enough rambling. What I wanted to ask was regarding the pitfalls. I understand that the 2020 model although being pre facelift there was some updates made to the Disco 5 in 2019, From searching around google I can't find much information but I read that the issue with the windscreen leak was fixed and there were improvements made to the SDV6 engine?

My neighbour has a Disco 4 SDV6 with 300,000KM on the clock and said he's been lucky with his engine, claims that 1/10 don't suffer the crankshaft issue.

Would appreciate any advise on what I should be checking for at 40,000 miles or in general.

    Thanks in advance.
