    Help!! Anybody recognise this

Does anybody know where this attaches on the td6 disco 5 2017 ? Currently hanging loose on the n/s of the engine appears to have a breatherr tube attached to the back.

Whatever it is, it could be part of the PCV having the remains of a breather tube on it. It could also be linked to the excessive blow-by you mentioned in your previous post. I'll not be able to check on mine till later as my son has borrowed it for the day Neutral

Turns out this is the fuel catch from the bottom of the fuel filter

Ahh, gotcha. Makes sense now especially with where you found it. Probably why I didn't recognise it either since it's normally fitted onto the bottom of the fuel filter and it's hard to see in situ.

The loose vent housing in your photo is where I've marked it in situ on my D5 with the red arrow below.

I usually shove my hand underneath that vent/plug housing and push the spigot on the new filter into the rubber pipe to make sure it's seated in properly before refitting the spring clip and sliding the filter back into it's retainer.

The vent spigot on the screw on plug on the bottom of the fuel filter (pinkie pointed) that fits into that rubber tube in your photo.

The electrical plug and the vent housing are normally secured onto the bottom of the filter by this wire spring clip...

which has possibly been broken or bent when fitted or (more than likely) not been refitted during the last filter change on your D5 which could be why the vent housing fell off in the first place.
If that little 50p spring clip pings off when you're trying to clip it back on...it always disappears under the engine onto the sump tray...a bit like toast always falls on the floor butter side down Rolling Eyes

Hope this helps a bit T4fty... since my original idea about it being related to the PCV was way off Thumbs Up
