Ian, that's a "multi function" button - wait until you have the weight of someone on the passenger seat and give it press! Whistle

Press it an it will shoot out. It's a rotary control to dim/increase the dashboard lights.

    Found this on Google:
To turn off Lane Keep Assist on your 2019 Land Rover Discovery 5 HSE, locate the driver assistance button on the right side of the steering wheel. Briefly press it to turn the system on, or press and hold it to turn it off. The button's icon will illuminate when the system is on. You can also adjust the level of assistance or turn it off through the Driver assistance menu in the instrument panel.

Can somebody who speaks English please help with this or at least advise where the driver assistance button might be found and what it looks like? Also, how do I access the driver assistance menu please? I’m sure this is on the screen but I can’t find it.

    Sorry it’s basic.

For the driver assistance menu...Ignition on, press the OK/Menu button in the centre of the left hand circular cluster on your steering wheel. You'll see options appear in the centre dash which you can scroll up and down using the up/down or left/right arrows on the steering wheel selector.

Look through the menus and find the 'driver assistance' section then press right on the steering wheel selector switch...it'll then list the available options in a sub menu (I'm making it sound hard..it's not really)

You can then turn off lane keep assist, the speed limiter or any of the listed options by highlighting the individual options using the up/down selector...there's a little square box which will either have a tick in it meaning it's set to on or it'll be empty meaning it's deselected or off. You press the centre 'OK' button to change this.

The enable/disable button on the steering wheel is on the right circular cluster...the centre button is the one they're on about.

Does it show the word Menu on the centre button on the left hand of the steering wheel?

Give it a press and options should pop up in the centre of the speedo screen.

Use the up and down arrows/ left and right to go through the various options.

They changed the layout and couple of years ago so struggling to remember now.

I'm going to have to go out to the car and video the process, aren't I...? Laughing

I was hoping not to since mine is a 2017 model with the analogue dash...which might confuse the issue rather than help. I'll have a rake around t'interwebs and see if I can find a YouTube vid on it...

    Edit:

Found an in depth vid for a 2019 Range Rover which looks almost exactly like the 2018-19 D5 steering wheel selector and centre dash menu options...

There may be superficial differences and some American only options in the video...but it's as best a tutorial video to that centre menu screen on a digital dash that I could conjure up at short notice Whistle

Ok chaps we have a little progress. I eventually found the LKA setting and turned it off. ( I had to first tick it as it was unticked, and then untick it and the lights went off ) The lane lights have gone out on the right of the steering wheel now ( that button does SFA ) and appears to stay off.

Anybody know what AEB might be?

Also, whilst playing around, it looks like my hunch was correct and this is contributing to the horrible, wallowy, handling I’m experiencing.

Actually feel like I’m making progress.

One final thing, this LIM feature, why does it get in the way of setting the cruise speed, how do I feck it off, I can’t see it listed anywhere, is it turnoffable? ( Yes, that is a word just in case you thought I’d invented it )

    Awesome Thumbs Up

AEB is Autonomous Emergency Braking...and yes, you can turn the speed limiter function off...as well as other limiter options.

To set or switch off the cruise control...you press the set + button at the top of the right cluster when you reach the desired speed...and it's set, you use the + and - buttons to adjust the cruise speed up or down. Pressing the brake or accelerator pedal will also automatically disable the cruise control.

Looks like that American RR video I put up covers most of the options I'm seeing in there too...so it might be worth having a scope through it. He explains what each function or setting does one by one.

Cheers, I’ll watch it now. Thumbs Up

Cruise should be the same as D4 as you suggest but not mine in the D5. Pressing the + button seems to activate LIM when I only want to cruise, so LIM needs switching off too. I will, 100%, never need it.

The speed limiter settings can be changed or disabled...although I can't for the life of me remember where the settings are but you can have it set to automatically limit the cars speed at +10mph over the marked speed limit for instance. It may be tied into the traffic sign recognition settings...I honestly can't remember. I certainly disabled mine for the same reasons after I picked the car up...

That aside, I'm really enjoying this back and forth Ian...this is exactly what this forum is for...albeit it's stretching my old brain cells a bit Mr. Green

You have inadvertently engaged or selected the speed limiter instead of the cruise control. They can’t coexist, switch the speed limiter off it’s that simple.

If in doubt, have a look at the handbook.

Aren't there centre menu settings for the limiter as well though?

If you’d read the thread, you’d know, I don’t have a handbook and switching off LIM is exactly what I’m trying to do but don’t know how. You’d also know, I haven’t inadvertently engaged anything either, try reading the thread. 🙄

Mole: Does LIM and Cruise both operate on the same selector switch can you recall?
What are these “centre” menus you refer to?

The centre menu is the one in between the speedo and tacho on the dash... where the LKA settings etc are.

My 2017 Disco doesn't have the adaptive cruise control though. It has the old style D4 type cruise control so I can't match your settings on that menu...I also don't have a full digital dashboard, it's once again similar to the older D4 type.

The LIM button on yours alternates between adaptive cruise control and the speed limiter. I also have a LIM button on my centre console above the intelligent stop/start button as well as on the right hand steering wheel cluster...which isn't at all helpful. I'm assuming it's under the driver info settings.

What I'm trying to find is where the speed limiter settings are on your 2019 Disco with the digital dash...and in what menu section so we can turn it off.

What's confusing me is this info....

Speed Limiter Settings for 2019 Discovery 5
    Types of Speed Limiters

The 2019 Land Rover Discovery 5 features two main types of speed limiters:

Standard Speed Limiter: This allows the driver to set a maximum speed. The vehicle will not accelerate beyond this set speed, but the driver can override it by pressing the accelerator hard.

Intelligent Speed Limiter: This system uses road sign recognition to automatically adjust the speed limit based on current road conditions. It can also work in conjunction with adaptive cruise control.

How to Set the Speed Limiter

    Activating the Speed Limiter:
Press the LIM button to turn on the speed limiter.
The speed limiter information will display on the dashboard.

    Setting the Speed:
Use the SET+ button to increase the speed limit in increments of 1 mph.
The system will automatically adjust if it detects a lower speed limit.

    Overriding the Limiter:
To exceed the set speed, press the accelerator firmly. The limiter will not engage if the driver applies enough pressure.

    Important Notes

The intelligent speed limiter may revert to the standard speed limiter after restarting the vehicle.
Some users have reported issues with the system misreading speed limits, particularly in built-up areas.

These settings help enhance safety and compliance with speed regulations while driving the 2019 Discovery 5.
