illuminated door sill
Hi All,
I'm new here, so apologies in advance if I get this wrong.
Just bought a used Discovery 5 and found that the rear offside illuminated door sill does not light up.
I'm assuming that it simply levers off to get at it, but my question is:
Is their a bulb in there which needs replacing, or is it a sealed unit?
If it's a sealed unit, is it worth replacing with a used one, or should I buy new?
If so, where is the best place to buy?

All the lights in the Disco 5 are LED, there are no replaceable bulbs.
The LED lamp units are replicable as whole units, most just pop out, unplug and plug a new one in.
However, I don't know which lamp you're referring to, My door sills don't light up and I've never seen any that do. Is it an aftermarket modification?
Photos would help.

Hi Jon,
Thanks for your response.
It's a fitted extra from LR I think.
I'll get a photo done when I get back tomorrow.

Having had similar on the front driver/passenger sills of a Disco Sport, they easily prized off and were sealed led units, no replaceable parts.
The rear replacement sills were not illuminated and no wiring went to that area.

Hi Darras,
There must be wiring there.
The nearside is illuminated, the offside is not.

Okay, never seen them for the D5, just the stainless steel plain ones.

It appears that old age has caught up with me and my senses have scrambled!
As Daaras said, there is no such thing as rear illuminated sill panels.
I mistook the reflection of the courtesy lights on the stainless sill as illumination from underneath.
Sorry for wasting your time, I'll get to the doctor and ask him to check my medication!
Many thanks for everyone's help.
