Bling Barge off for MOT
Sent the Bling Barge over on the ferry this morning for it's MOT...works differently up here since there's no MOT centre (or local garage) on the island. I just stick it on the ferry and the guys from Orkney Motors pick it up at the other end once it gets to Kirkwall. Normally I'd go over with it and do a bit of shopping at Tesco etc, but the garage couldn't fit the car in until late afternoon...so after the 15.30 return ferry departure time.
So, it's off on it's own and I'll go over and pick it up on Wednesday, I couldn't get a space on the ferry until then as they're booked solid for tomorrow. It was full of Openreach vans coming over here to install folks full fibre broadband connections, including mine.
1.6Gbps..I'm looking forward to that even though my current 5G mobile based broadband service is fairly reasonable at 200Mbps

Indeed. It's the massive downloads for DCS...last time I uninstalled it, I had a 1.6Tb download to reinstall the damned thing
Even standard games are getting a ridiculous size these days...usually between 80Gb and 130Gb a piece...talking of which, I downloaded Ghost of Yotei for the PS5 last week, I'm really enjoying that. I loved Ghost of Tsushima as well though which was the first game.

Aye, I know that song about games and SSD space. I've got 16Tb on the gaming PC... 4x4Tb m.2 SSD's...and another 4Tb m.2 SSD on the PS5.
I really should just uninstall stuff occasionally instead of buying more and bigger drives
As for FPS games...I've been a Battlefield player for years, enjoying BF6 at the moment on PC -

The Bling Barge got one advisory on the MOT...passenger side electronic parking brake caliper was binding a bit. It was fine before I sent it over so I'll have to do a brake service when I get it back.
It might have been left sitting in the garage forecourt for a couple of days that made the brake bind a bit during the test, we had crap weather so the disks would have been a bit rusty with all the salt air. The garage is right on the sea front.
No matter...a pass is a pass, even though it irked me to cop an advisory on something so basic. I should have renewed the pads and done a full brake service during the pre MOT checks I did before it went over... I was going to replace the pads all round and do a complete brake fluid flush...but since the pads were all well above the 1.5mm wear limit, I decided to wait until it got back before starting it...
Won't be happening again, I don't do advisories or fails on MOT's, that's the whole point of having a workshop full of shiny tools
Due to ferry cancellations, I'm not getting the car back till Saturday night. The garage are sticking it on the ferry to save me going over to collect it. I'll just pick it up off the boat this end. A whole week to get an MOT done...perils of living on a remote rock in the north sea
