Just as an update, we had a couple of days of torrential downpours on Monday/Tuesday combined with some motorway driving. No water ingress so it's def possible to reseal if suffering from the type of leak/failure I have had.
Still replacing the screen due to a large chip, but if it wasn't for that I'd be happy that it's watertight again. Think the main thing is applying outward pressure while forcing sealant into the gap where the rubber gasket and glass have parted ways. That helps to properly reseal the joint rather than just putting a bead of silicone along the outside of the joint.
