How much are you being charged by YOUR dealer?
My local dealership (the ‘p artist’ formerly known as Inchcape) charge £240 + vat.
Fortunately, I first went to my indie who charges £70 + vat. He diagnosed a seat module issue but couldn’t access it to clear it!
I therefore had to face the white fitted shirts at the front desk of the dealership.
I told them that it had been diagnosed already, they merely needed to connect their electric string ….and fix it. Somewhere in the “debate” I pointed out the seat recline malfunction only occurred after the N877 security update. Derisory comments ensued… it would have nothing to do with the security update and “customers are always saying we did “it” , when something goes wrong, after doing a service”.
I let that one slide as I was invited to take their technician out to demonstrate the problem.
I postulated with him, that the issue came from the security software update.
He told me,
v1 caused the Discovery steering to judder.
v2 prevented the drivers window working
So HE was perfectly prepared to accept my v3 was mucking up seat calibration.
It’s now fixed, after “refreshing” the software ( not sure if this is v4 ) but it just goes to show that the right hand doesn’t know what the left hand is doing at JLR….or they choose to tactically ignore.
I ended up just paying for 1/2 hour labour.
Why does it have to be so fraught and tense dealing with dealers?
