2018 Discovery Td6 SE Corris Grey

Nearly at the end of life of D5

LR today announced the thinning out of the D5 range to just S, Landmark, & Tempest. Looks like final runout of D5, so I guess round 12 months max.

24MY D300 Dynamic SE, Fuji White, Deployable Towbar, full size spare.
Gone 20MY SDV6 Landmark, Indus Silver, Deployable Towbar, 360 Cameras

So what are we thinking, that's the end of Discovery in 12 months, or something is coming to replace it?

My replacement timeline is literally 12-18 months max. What does or doesn't follow will decide on if I stick with LR (had once since 2010), or move to another brand. I can tell you now that nothing else in the JLR family interests me, including the ugly Defender 130!

This is nothing to replace the D5. The def110 is nice, but smaller than the D5.
The def130 is big enough, but sorry… useless as it cannot tow 3500kg… so for me is useless!!

RRS is too expensive and too small

FFRR is butt ugly and too expensive!!

Just hope my D5 keeps on going… 9 years young at the moment… so far so good.

Yes, MY2027 will be the final model year.

The press releases say they're committed to the Discovery brand, but there's very little information about what the D6 will actually be like. Some speculation that it's going to be a off-road MPV / campervan, but that is unreliable information.

Every time I've had the LR survey asking how I like my car, and what & when I'd replace it with, I've always been very clear, only if there is a Disco 6. I dont want to buy an end-of-the-run D5, as it's already getting a bit long in the tooth tech-wise versus the modern stuff, and I don't think I want a mild hybrid again...

Don't tow, personally, so that doesn't worry me, but the Def 130 is just plain ugly, and I agree with the OP entirely re: the RRS and FFRR.

Merc or BMW it may have to be.... I just want a big Disco-level 'luxury' SUV with a bloody great big boot for holidays. Now we have a dog and kids are getting bigger, boot space is even more important.
