Lost key turned into new KVM
Hi all hope your week has been better than mine.
So on the day of me and my family flying on holiday 2 hours before we needed to drive to the airport my wife tells me “I can’t find the key to the car !! “ so the hunt was on, we looked everywhere she said she had been and swore blind it was left on the arm of the chair with the paperwork but it wasn’t so I called a auto lock professional off google that turned up promptly to our rescue. I unlocked the car with the app and told him it has a security update done in march and it’s got a ghost pro fitted and it only gets entered when the ignition is on to unlock the gear knob, I asked him roughly how long as I need to decide on ordering a taxis or will o have a working key. He said give me 30-45 minutes.
I left him to it whilst we continued looking but nothing so eventually after 1 hour I approached and asked again how’s it going and he said he was struggling with it and he said I’m best to get a taxis so I had my wife book a taxis leaving him work on the car with our eldest still home. We should have left originally at 11:00, he arrived just after 11:00 so wee left at 12:20 ish. We made it to the airport and the gate literally shut behind us as we went through, we were minutes from missing the plane. Once at the hotel I messages the guy and he said he’s came away to consult a JLR specialist as he couldn’t get the car to receive the new key so I thought nothing of it he’s got a whole week as far as I was concerned to get it sorted but he went back a few days later and left the car with the hazards flashing as I could see on my cctv. He said that they will stop after a while but when i checked at multiple times though that night they were still flashing so now im thing the car battery will be dead. I messaged him he said he’s got a blade cut to the key so he can still get in as he left it locked. I left it with him a few days then before we were coming back I messaged again but this time nothing. He never read the messages but I could see he was online 🤷🏻♂️
So we arrive back at 3:00 I. The mori g after a week and still no key but now a dead battery and no way of getting in 🤬 I messaged, called, emailed everything possible to communicate with him but still nothing until he messages me saying he broke his screen and wasn’t able to reply so we agreed he would be back yesterday to sort this out once and for all. He came working on it for hours again, during this my wife speaks out “I’ve found the key !!” Happy and 🤬 at the same time I told the guy and gave him the working key and said I’m still happy to pay if he can make me a key I can keep as a spare and he was ok with that.
I took my daughter to her drs appointment in my van and he called me and said can I talk ? At this point I knew something was wrong so when I got back he then admitted to programming it wrong with the code and he has basically in my term analogy cooked the module.. Basically the car won’t work off the buttons anymore of the original working key so no unlock or lock and to start the car I had to hold the fob up to the left of the steering column vents. He then saying if I take the car to his mate he will sort this out I said I’ll think about it but I wasn’t. I done research this time and found a genuine lock smith that pointed me to a guy call Matt at M&M

He’s a young guy, self taught and he is brilliant. He asked for the previous guy’s contact detail’s last night to find out what he’s done and messed with so he was prepared for today.
He can diagnosed it but he already had an idea swooped it the KVM and reprogrammed 2 new keys to the car. It took a while but that was because he was sorting through with the car and low battery was making it awkward. Yeas it’s cost me a lot more but at the moment I’m in conversations with the original you and he’s agreed to pay for the damage caused
After speaking with Matt he also recognised the car has had a DPF delete and he also said the stop start has been disabled. He also mentioned he can do my old style analogue dials to the new digital screen dials
Please guys if you have any issues electrical this guy is heavily invested with Landrover equipment and knows his stuff
He said he’s happy to work nationwide and he’s even had to help Landrover when their technicians struggle
