Toyota C-HR
I had to go to a conference in Birmingham yesterday so we took a pool car which was a Toyota C-HR and this apparently stands for Coupe High Rider!
It's a really wacky looking car but I was really impressed with it. It was a 1.8 Hybrid Excel and had everything on it you would want including a huge sat nav screen. We drove from Cardiff to Birmingham and back and averaged 63.9mpg.
It's not a fast car but I think you have to develop a way of driving it. If you try to drive it like a diesel you will be disappointed.
I don't think I'd ever seen one before but I have to say I was very impressed. Parked in the services it turned more heads than the D5 ever has and the build quality is excellent.
Anyway, not all that relevant on a Discovery forum but I thought I would share my thoughts!
When I'm not in the operating theatre, I'm mountain biking, spending time with my family, running and socialising. I have a Discovery 5 HSE Lux with pretty much every option ticked. This is my first ever Land Rover. Been a rocky road with regards to reliability but we're getting there.

Our second car is a Toyota hybrid (a mighty Yaris rather than a second SUV) and it's terrific. The electric bit won't do much for you at all on a long run but in stop/start traffic it's absolutely amazing.
With the technology becoming more mainstream I can imagine a future where by the time the EURO 8 or 9 regulations come out, passing the emissions test will require some form of energy capture and recycling device.
I explain to people that my Yaris is basically an F1 car with it's 1.5L engine and MGU-K but somehow they don't seem convinced...

That must be the Austrian version, everyone very complimentary here. I dare say it's a lot more reliable than my D5 too.

Don't know what you mean by saying "Austrian version"...
Look wise there isn't something like an Austrian version, they are all Japanese versions
It looks like a toy car from a video game. And the interior... pheeew
Just horrific. But hey, everyone to his taste.

I was joking about the Austrian version.
I think if I was a company car driver and it was that on the list or a Focus or Golf I'd go for that to be different.

I'm not feeling the love for it but I ain't a big fan of Toyota. I've owned Hyundai, they're pretty good, had a little drive in a colleagues 2016 Tucson, seemed well equipped for an entry level model.
If I were to leave LR it would probably be the Merc E Class estate, I need the space for the dog, though the new XF Sportbrake with AWD would a possibility.

I regularly get driven from Malaga Airport to Algeciras in Toyota Auris Hybrid estate car taxis and they too are amazing - even on the motorway it is quite happy to run in electric mode at motorway speeds in silence, the only time the petrol engine cuts in is on inclines or when wanting to jump into traffic on a roundabout or if the battery charge is low. The cars we use are all also run as taxis in Algeciras and they seem to run in electric mode most of the time.
