Pcheaven, I run my RRS L494 HSE Dynamic on 22" wheels and all the damage I have suffered to the rims has been on my own drive where I have high granite sets on the kerb Embarassed Embarassed I offroad the RRS on the 22"s and so far have had no issues on 100% road biased Continental Cross Contact on muddy shooting tracks and forestry commission tracks. My car has the eDiff and I wonder if you have specced that on your D5 as it makes a big difference. Using the 4x4 info screen I also see that the centre and rear eDiffs on my car work hard on wet grass and an slippery tracks but rarely seem to fully lock up, 2/3rd lock up of one or other difff seems to be enough to get traction even on showroom issue tyres.
BTW for those who have doubts about comfort on the tarmac on 22" wheels and tyres - don't! I have run RRS's on 19", 20" and now 22" rubber and defy anybody to notice any difference in ride comfort.

the main problem I have is the lack of side wall, especially noticeable when rock crawling, or in deep mud and ruts -there isnt just enough sidewall to flex, and some of the places in Somerset I went which is vey rocky my D5 struggled due to the tyres, yet my Discovery sport with 18'"s ( same side wall as D5 20's") managed easily.

larger sidewall = more flex and give = more rubber incontact with the rocks

Yes, on grass, shallow mud etc the 22's do perform ok, and are comfortable on tarmac Smile

even bouncing up a kerb - which is an often occurrence where I live in kent has to be done carefully in 22's

the kids even noticed when fording the River Barle (Tarr Steps Exmoor) how bumpy and bouncy the car was compared to the Discovery Sport - crossed it a few times over a weekend, and damaged one of the rims -albeit light damage

Yes, the thin sidewall is a problem and I am always concerned about a slash from a hidden bit of flint/slate hiding in the ruts. I have a set of 21" RRS SVR wheels with M&S treads and the sidewall on them is much better - have had them for 18 months and not yet bothered to fit them......... the car might be changed before I get round to it too!
