    Tax pre April 2017

    Hi does anyone know what the tax is for 3.0l diesel D5 brought registered) before 1st of April 2017 ?

    Hi,

    189g/km = Band J = £500 for 1st year then £270 per year after that.

    Post 1st April is:-

    £800 for 1st year then £450 for years 2-6 then £140 per year thereafter.

    SWMBO's 3.0 D HSE is due at Dealer on 24th March and due for collection on 31st March -so I've checked in case of delay!!!

    Surely the car can be registered as soon as the dealer gets a VIN, no? If so it can be registered before it arrives at the dealer may be the difference between current VED and new VED.

    I have just returned from visiting my dealer and you are right.
    The car is put on a system ( he did tell me the acronym but I forgotten it! ) shortly after production and before it arrives at the dealer.

    This enables the car to be taxed, so we should be OK with late March deliveries.

    I'm expecting £300 extra on the purchase price and the new VED.
