Hmmm... I was planing on fitting side steps, but what I saw in the video looks like to have a huge impact on ground clearance. Shocked
Looks like about an inch for the steps itself and an additional inch for the brackets that hold them from below. Rolling Eyes
    Can anyone confirm this?

    Greets & thanks,

If you have any intentions of going off-road then, please, don't fit side steps.
I had them on my last Disco and they acted like mud plows Big Cry

Side steps will have some negative impact on ground clearance, but on the one car I had them on I found it minimal. On the Pathfinder I broke one during an off road trip, but not because of clearance. They were sticking out too far so hit a rock and Nissan's plastic steps couldn't cope with it. At least the step didn't get pushed into the body work.

If you are going to use the car off road then rock sliders would protect the body much better, yet still have the same impact on ground clearance. But if you're not or rarely going off road, then put the steps on that suit your needs.

Brought these from direct 4x4, they are the OEM type and came with very strong brackets to fit on.

Price is fantastic, delivery was 3 days, the brackets are heavy and very strong, Great value..
Also found this video on You Tube showing how to fit.

So, I just watched the fitting video and it looks really easy. Concerns / questions...

    - Fitting seems to involve cutting some holes in protective plastic trays under the car.... - do I need to worry about this
    - The ones from SideSteps.co.uk (https://www.sidesteps.co.uk/shop/discovery/discovery-series-5-side-steps/?attribute_trim=Silver) are quite a lot more after delivery (£430 ish), but looks lovely. Does anyone know if they fit without cutting the plastic protection under the car or not? Any photos? / You tube available?

    Ta,

+1 on that. Also purchased from Side Steps UK. Nice and solid. They will fit for free if you pop in past.
Alot easier if you have access to a ramp as even though I have all the tools it took alot longer than 15 mins per side as advertised. I have put up photos in a previous post Thumbs Up

Hi Mark did you know your body door moulding are fitted in the wrong place. The dealer also fitted are door moulding incorrectly, they should be lower down just below the crease in the door. They fitted the moulding on our car just above the crease , when you check the profile of the door the crease on the lover part of the door projects out further which were the protective body door moulding should be fitted.

I'm still thinking about getting the dealer to refit them but we're mine are fitted do offer a little bit of protection from dings

    Here's a some photos
