Yes, the reason is the TPMS sensors apparently work different in a D5 compared to a D4. In a D4 you simply swap wheels at leisure and the car automatically detects the sensors. However in a D5 the individual sensors are coded to the car. So at the moment my 'off road' set of wheels are in my workshop awaiting the outer beads to be 'popped' so I can record the numeric code of each sensor. I can then re fit the wheels/tyres inform the dealer of said codes who will code them to the car.

That is very good information for all of us that may change tires and wheels.

It might become a pita for those that want to regularly swap wheels. Maybe the chaps at GAP are taking note, and will release a new 'tool' ?

Andrew do you know how many codes the car can store, can it store 10 sets eg off road and on road tyres?

    Andrew shame your not here

Its normally as simple as Reading the Code with a TPMS reader then recode the virgin valve

AM EZ sensors come as a "Virgin" value so a little poke and off you go

I'll check compatibility for the D5

Got feedback from dealer after car went in for a couple of minor things. They have said that they can only programme 5 sensors and the car will not take any more, it just over writes the others after that Big Cry

    Not sure what you mean.
With D5 you have to log the TP valves with the car and the car will only accept 5

The easy way then (Assume 433mzh) is read the valve get the valve serial number

Then code an EZ sensor (there are other makes) to the exact same code remove wheel and replace with the mud plug / Winter tyre wheel noting code to position Thumbs Up

    Ken
Quick question, if the TPMS valves in the spare wheels (winter wheels) have already been programmed with a code can they be re-programmed with another code, eg the code of the wheels fitted to the D5? Or are they a single shot once coded cannot have another code added

Finally got the off road wheels and tyres back on the car today with Disco5 sensors fitted. I've only driven a few miles.
Went into vehicle information and found that the 4x4 tyre pressures were being displayed. So it looks like re-programming may not be required. A longer run will be required to confirm this.
