I think they should be a standard option on all cars, they are priceless!

You probably all know this, but I found out that the D5 already has a sort of 'black box', which records such things as speed, direction, journey times, etc. So if a D5 is involved in a crash they can tell the speed, direction, etc that it was going?

that hole on the boot interior Big Cry i don't think i can pull myself to doing that to my brand new car Sad lol

the worst thing is we don't really have any professional installers of such cameras in Gibraltar, so i'll either ned to look in Spain or just hope that the mechanic i ask to install them does it right lol but i really want that own camera an if it had a rear camera too it would be even better.

Hi have blackvue fittted front & rear and I'm very pleased 24/7 recording and once I'm home I can link to my wifi and down load any recording if needed. I can also get the same info off my phone it a great camera. It cost me just under £400. which when you've paid nearly £60,000 for your car it's worth the money for the protection if the police or your insurance company need it.

Yes it needs a grommit in the hole, but beleave or not you really carnt see the rear camera. When the boots open its up in the air, when it's closed it's miles away I will try and find a grommit to finish the job. Thumbs Up

Thinking about it, if your going to fit a camera, fit front & rear first as last. When I priced the cameras to buy and then fitting was about £100. deference well worth paying the extra. I thinking if you bought blackvue and got a price from the garage were you get your car serviced they would fit no problem. I just didn't have the time to fit it

Halfords do a box of mixed rubber grommets for about £5 in all shapes and sizes. I had the same issue with the hole on top of the dash for the speed camera detectors hard wiring. Finished it off nicely Smile

Thanks for that, I'm off tomorrow I will call to Halfords. Its wired to the fuse box behind the glove box , they used a pernerment live and a earth. It's looked quiet simply to do, the hard bit is hiding the wires.

Before they fitted it a checked on YouTube and there's lot of info about fitting cameras.

Any ideas too what is the best dash cam out there, both front and rear ???

Its a minefield. What was good say 3 years ago seems so outdated now.

Need too order asap and get it fitted.

Looking for one which i can download / view the footage on my phone, and not mess about with memory cards uploading onto the pc, etc.

If anyone recommends from personal experience or otherwise, then any info will be much appreciated.

    Cheers Thumbs Up

My Son and Wife both use a Garmin Dash Cam 55, its about £150 from Amazon.

Good thing about this one is that you can indeed download the videos direct to your phone and also get a live feed if you want.

It has some other features, such as beeping to tell you when the line of traffic in front starts to move, and lane departure warnings too (which you obviously wouldn't need in a D5 as its already there). You can switch these things off if you don't want them.

I use a FineVu camera in mine - The FineVu Pro, its a few years old and I had it in my D4. Keep thinking about getting a Garmin too, but the FineVu has been faultless and it just sits there doing its job. Brilliant pictures, the sort you can zoom into and clearly see registration plates, etc. They weren't cheap at the time, think I paid about £400 for mine. They aren't easy to get hold of in the UK, I think theres a few companies that do them, I got mine on Ebay direct from FineVu. See http://finevudashcam.com if you are interested.

To be honest I think these things have got so good over the past few years, you don't need to spend a fortune to get a decent one.

    Thanks for the info rogersmj
I think its the way too go, i.e. direct downloads and live feeds too your phone instead of constantly swapping memory cards.
I will definately look into it tonight Thumbs Up
