    Cleaning the door cards

    What do you use.
I tried a damp cloth. Always leaves the surface a little to flat / Matt for my liking.
Any suggestions , before I pop to Halfords and spend an hour reading the false promises plastered over most cleaning products.

Another case of baby wipes clean anything !

I use baby wipes all around the car interior. Seats, trim etc. They are great at removing most dirt and denim staining on seats and seat backs also.

I noticed the 18MY now has leather door tops and dash trim now on the HSE in place of the textured vinyl the 17MY has. Will be easier to keep clean I think.

Apologies for hijacking thread but can you let me know Simonh if you saw the MY18 with leather door tops and dash trim? I have a MY18 on order, expect to pick up in March and was not aware of this change, if true would be a bonus 😀

I wouldn't recommend using baby wipes on leather or door cards it will wreck it.

There are loads of specialist trim and leather products that will do the job much better and give better finishes and protection, they don't have to cost a fortune either.

I won't list the various suppliers, PM me or do a bit of reading on detailingworld.co.uk - you will open up a whole new world.

The car was in the showroom and badged HSE.

Thinking about it now I can’t remember if it was a black or silver background badge. Black is the HSE Luxury, silver standard HSE. I can ask a Shukers if you need.

Can you say why? I don’t doubt your knowledge but surely baby wipes are gentle as they’re used on, well, babies botties.

They will dry and crack the leather / finishes (i know that sounds strange) - they really arent designed for it and the special finishes on the surfaces, they get damaged.

They just arent for the job.

Its like wiping your babys bottom with leather protectant, wrong thing.

Simonh, it would be most appreciated if you could ask your contact at Shukers. The main thing I miss between the HSE and HSE Lux is the extended Leather but couldn’t convince myself to pay the extra.

    Thanks Thumbs Up

Ah. OK. Thanks, will dig out the LR leather cleaner and use that instead. Cheers
