How are we finding the snow??

Nothing major to report in West Sussex and the car's been very good. Although to be fair, no cars have been getting stuck.

I did take the children to school down a particularly steep hill just to use HDC. Great bit of kit.

Snow / Ice setting just makes everything nice and calm.

I'm hoping for more challenging conditions tomorrow....

I'm just outside Basingstoke, its very bad here, been snowing non stop since about 2pm yesterday. The rural roads haven't been gritted, so they are just packed snow.

Only my D5 and 2 another 4x4's have made it out (the other 2 vehicles being a D4 and a Shogun). Must admit I originally didn't put the snow setting on, and had a 'moment' when I braked and the car kept going! So snow setting on and up to now its been good.

i'm more worried about the other people trying their hand at skiing in their 'normal' cars! Had a guy in a Skoda Fabia 'slide' past me before hitting a kerb and bouncing back! Rolling with laughter

2017 Discovery Td6 First Edition Namib Orange

As any sign of snow or cold weather seems to kill my D5 (it's in the dealers, again, with complete central locking failure and flat battery), then the snow presents a bit of a challenge for me now.

My first edition has a 100% success rate in letting me down when I need it.

£70k on a discovery and my options in this weather are taxis or trying to get about in the wifes Renault Twingo.

I've had an XF, RR Sport and some day hoped to be in a Vogue, but my experience so far with this Discovery is looking like it will be the end of the road for me and JLR. My brother is currently in a new RR Sport and was looking at a Vogue too, but my experiences with the quality of a new vehicle from JLR are making him think twice too.

Shame, because it's such a nice car when it works, I just can't rely on it working when I need it to.

Plenty of snow in tunbridge wells, have even towed a few muppets who decided to drive around in 6 inches of snow in sports cars
Have also towed another 4x4 - it had new tyres on it, but they weren’t winter ones so he got stuck on a hill Smile

The talk about whether to have all weather or winter tyres is one i've pondered.

I have Pirelli Scorpion Winter tyres on my D5. After doing some research, these tyres seemed the best option. They are very good in the snow/rain and reviews seem to also favour them in the summer too (well for when we do get a summer in the UK!)

Me too. Heated screen used to avoid this but it switches off far too early for my liking.

Sold the D5 before we had any real snow but the Velar is going well.
