    Possible spare wheel mount recall

Anyone on here heard about work which must be done on spare wheel mounting mechanism? I am NZ and there is a Facebook page here suggesting that. Serial numbers? Build months?

    Hi rich
Yes there is a mod to stop them being pinched so easily. https://disco5.co.uk/forum/thread1030.html

Imbaw, I think your pretty safe mate as who in the right mind would want too pinch a space saver Shocked

Mind you, if it's not nailed down or screwed down they will pinch anything Laughing

I would have thought be it a full size, or space saver, the fix would apply too both. I cant see them penalising one over the other. Thumbs Up

It does not apply to space savers, apparently.

It's to stop thefts. No one nicks space savers.

TBH, you're much better off going for one of Uncle Ray's wheel protectors - much more secure.

Well funny you should say that. I know of someone who has had a full size spare nicked. It was replaced by a space saver on the pretence that it would not get stolen. Lo and behold it was too. Shocked
I think they were stealing too sell the wheels on for scrap metal - hardly worth the few quid, as oppossed too the damage caused too replace the cable etc, at the owners expense. Censored
I too have been a victim in the past and have now ordered one of Uncle Rays protectors. Thumbs Up
