I had a ‘quarry truck’ deposit a stone on my windscreen...which as of this morning is a 2 foot wide crack from the drivers side edge to the middle of the screen and also right in the middle of my field of view...
I have gone through my insurance & Autoglass...but...they asked me if it was ‘Reflective’ ? I said I was not 100% sure...the conversation ended with them taking my access and saying the screen is ‘not in stock and will be 2 to 10 days before it is ’ also they will need to calibrate the camera/sensors after fitting
...
Question is...has my MY17 HSE got a reflective screen?
Also anybody had a new screen fitted and has some words of wisdom before they do the job...thanks
Good idea, wish the ‘windscreen specialists’ had thought to ask for that to be sure....
Is the glass reflective as standard do you know? or an option dependant on spec..
No idea ....she said ‘is it reflective? amongst other questions like heated screen? & hud fitted?’...think I will call them back armed with info off the screen tomorrow, thanks
Capt Pugwash, if you look at my post from 2 days ago titled (Solar Windscreen), you will get more information.
The symbols are self explanatory, well most of them are
Re the windscreen replacement, I had one replaced after a stone cracked it up near the rear view mirror. It was replaced by Autoglass with no problem and I booked it into the dealership to get the cameras re-calibrated (because at the time Autoglass said they couldn't do this, not sure if this has changed?).
I waited for the car as it only took them about an hour, and It cost me £90. However, my insurance company, Aviva, told me that as long as the dealership could send them a copy of the invoice, then they would pay this. I got a refund in the form of a cheque from Aviva after about 5 days.
Autoglass replaced mine couple weeks ago, the technician was able to do the camera calibration at same time. He said Leicester depot only have 3 guys that can do the calibration so I had to get a fitting appt when one of those was available.
Coincidentally, the quarry truck that flicked the stone at my screen was when I was on the A444 just after TZ as I was heading into Nuneaton.
Autoglass called me today and said the glass is ready but they need 2 weeks before they have a fitting slot! 🙄...I said I need it tomorrow or day after as it is not drivable as it goes across my field of view, she said somebody from their consierge team would contact me within 4 hours, that was 8 hours ago...
I had a replacement screen about 2 weeks ago. Likewise Autoglass made me wait about 10 days for the glass. On the upside it was genuine LR glass not aftermarket.
Autoglass calibrated my camera for lane departure etc. I have to say I think the lights and wipers are a little later in auto activating now but can’t be sure.
