    Navigation co ordinates

Anyone know how to get a co ordinate for a current location from the sat nav or how you get into off road navigation

I've just changed up to a D5 and wanted to set my satnav home to current location (ie. parked at my front door). It doesn't appear to be possible. Seems it will only accept an actual address. This isn't great for me since I'm well off road down a track. Am I missing something?

From the 'Here Maps' website, not the inControl site which is frankly very poor:

Can I search in HERE Maps using geo-coordinates?

Yes. Type or paste the coordinates in the search box using any of these formats:

    N 45'26'32" E 10'40'41"
    25 24 49.3 S 29 56 25.5 E
    N57,555 E39,765
    40,676069 17,356254
    13.5957 100.6902
    49 16'792N 013 36'986E
    N 52 30 2 E 13 23 56
    52 30 13 23
    50° 2' 50.915" N, 14° 20' 58.468" E

This works on the inControl Route planner on the PC as well. Haven't tried it in the App yet.

Now if only there was a way to pick a point on the map with the PC. You can do it on the regular Here site as it works just like Google Maps but you can't upload or export from that site to the inControl one even though it's the same company.

What I do for tricky places is set a pin on Google Maps then copy the lat and long from the address bar then paste into inControl Route planner search then tidy the format and it works.

Here just provide mapping and POI data for LR’s Nav systems. They are not involved with any app development for JLR. No integration at all.

(One of Here’s product managers is an old work colleague of mine).

Apparently TomTom now supports InControl Apps on Android phones (can anyone confirm this?) so I expect it to appear for iPhones soon. I hope so as I can finally dump the cars Nav and get better routing, poi, speed camera and much much better live traffic info etc.

Ok I take it back. I didn't realise they only bought the maps from Here, explains a lot.

Also eventually found that if you click a point on the inControl PC map and hold the left mouse for a good while it eventually realises you want to navigate there. A double click just keeps you zooming in.

    Excellent find! Thumbs Up

I have been copying and pasting coordinates from Google Maps for the past year!! Rolling with laughter

Now if you can find a way to give them a sensible label you will be a super star ! Laughing Laughing

Tap and hold drops a pin in most map apps. Including ICTP, Route Planner (phone and PC) etc. If you use the satellite view in the car you can nail a building very easily or a location in the corner of a field.

Has anyone tried entering a lat/long location into the search field in the cars Nav? Does it not resolve it into a map location ?
