Sim card provided as OE?
Read all the threads on here about people choosing the best sim card for their D5, but spotted in the new spec sheet / price guide (https://www.landrover.co.uk/download-a-brochure/index.html) that:
When specified with 'Pro Services & Wi-Fi Hotspot', your new Land Rover Discovery will arrive with a SIM Card equipped with an Essential data plan of 500MB of data per month for the initial warranty period.
I'm guessing, because this Option is standard on SE models and above, I therefore don't need to worry about buying one. is this a new thing for MY2019, or did they always come with a sim card and no one else has found the data allowance anywhere near enough?
And lastly, anyhow know where / how to get the 2019MY brochure online? I see they still haven't listed it on the above link. All the Rangies have a brochure, but not the Discoveries...[/i]

Well mine didn’t have one and it was a June car.
If you shop round, you can manage to get a 40gb data sim valid for a year for roughly £40, so even if correct LR aren’t being over generous.

Dave as your car is June it maybe a 18MY car not 19MY.
To work out look at the last 2 letters before the 6 numbers in the vin number
HA = 17MY
JA = 18MY
KA = 19MY
24MY D300 Dynamic SE, Fuji White, Deployable Towbar, full size spare.
Gone 20MY SDV6 Landmark, Indus Silver, Deployable Towbar, 360 Cameras

I thought it was built in and not an actual SIM? Presumably you still have a a SIM slot?

Yes, still have a SIM slot. I think the basic InControl features work off a built in SIM but if you want the premium features, you need an extra data SIM.

Yeah, but it’s just a spec and price guide. Not a proper brochure as were used to... 😞
Very few pics!

Sim slot is under the centre armrest.
Yes got my sim card and FREE 500mb for the next 36 months when we picked up the car.
But from first impressions 500mb wont last long. Not if you keep running the remote app on your phone to find out where the missus is
Guess they bank on you using the 500mb early and then signing up for their high priced extra data.

Well be thankful you got a SIM card. Harwoods Croydon haven’t been sent any, but have promised to send it in when it arrives. Just went and got one on Amazon instead!

I initially used a 12gb preloaded data SIM from 3 (about £25 from various sellers like MyMemory) although it seems to disappear rapidly - not sure why. 3 did reinstate some of it.
I now used the free 3 200mb/month and then switch to my WiFi hotspot on phone for longer journeys that need more than just map updates etc.

Like an idiot I have created the Wifi hotspot and connected my phone. Each time I entered the car it re-connected, and me streaming over apple music was what was munching all the data.
Disabled it now and data usage is minimal
