What Engines are we going to opt for

I'm in a quandry over the engine choice

    3.0L V6 Super charged Petrol
    3.0L V6 Diesel
    2.0L Diesel ingenium

Not sure what other have been mentioned.

I would like the V6 petrol but will it be bad choice
The V6 Oiler has a good record but do i want another diesel

    Whats your thoughts

I'm a bit chary of proposals to ban some diesels from certain cities in the future so for me petrol may be the way to go.

Same really, I just need to drive it to see if it fits the bill.
I'm sure it will as its spot on in the Jag. There also offering it across the range FFRR/ RRS. It could be the biggest seller if its right for the car.

But here's a bit of a reality check:

VED tax bands: April 2017 onwards: table
VED car tax bands for cars first registered from 2017 onwards
    Emissions (g/km of CO2)
    First year rate
    Standard rate

    76-90 £100

    91-100 £120

    101-110 £140

    111-130 £160

    131-150 £200

    151-170 £500

    171-190 £800

    191-225 £1,200

    226-255 £1,700

    Over 255 £2,000

Cars above £40,000 pay £310 annual supplement for five years

Ouch those tax bands look horrendous. Presumably there'll be a rush of registrations at the 2016 year end.

Gone for a 2.0 (feeling lonely on this list) and may (whisper) think that it wasn't the best choice. Interested to try it anyway and it works nicely in my Disco sport with 180 bhp so fingers crossed!. Hopefully not as bad as 2.0 petrol in the original Disco during the mid 90''s. .. Embarassed

I am with Bill on this one, petrol seems to be a safer bet even when it comes to trade in. Dealers will no doubt be saying can't shift diesels due to ban's if and when it happens.

I read today on the BBC News app that the Scottish parliament is to implement a low emissions zone in "one Scottish city" doesn't say which but it mentions that it will be similar to the London Low Emissions zone. Shouldn't effect newer diesels but will catch the likes of my 1996 Defender TDi300 with a Cat which last time I checked on the website for London's zone cannot get inside the 25 miles limit, D5 shouldn't be a problem. The item says that it will mean many older 4x4's, taxis, vans and trucks will be excluded. Doesn't mention anything about the ancient particulate spewing First Bus / Stagecoach buses and coaches that are still driving around on city streets.................... they seem to be exempt from most rules.
