    Recovery Point Electric Tow Bar

    Sorry all,

Following my post about detachable, can anyone confirm what recovery points are there for detachable?

Is it the same as Russels pic here?

    Thanks

That's the detachable. The electric deployable one has a screw in loop like a standard car. I'd be nervous about using it for a recovery.

An off road car with a screw in tow eye.

Does that support recoveries in LR eyes?

    Thanks

Edit: Just read it can be used to tow another vehicle Shocked

Why not use the actual towbar as the recovery point? after all, it is designed to pull more than the Disco weighs!!

Because of this and this. And these are only 2 examples.

A tow ball is not designed to take the strain when doing a snatch recovery.

I have snatched an Audi Q5 on the beach which also had a screw in recovery hook at the front. On the snatch strap I used 2 recovery dampers so that in the event the hook would come loose it stays low. Admittedly I didn't feel very comfortable doing this so took it as gently as possible. I got him out of his predicament to above the high water line so he could drive off the beach on his own.

JLR's front and rear tow eye instructions come with disclaimers,,, on road use only recovery and use could result in damage, injury or death,, much the same as the 2 examples from IndusD4.
How is the kinetic rope attached to the tow eyes for a snatch recovery?

I use rated shackles (4.5T or higher) to connect the snatch strap to a recovery point, at both ends.

So if the recovery point failed, a steel shackle would be hurtling towards one of the vehicles.Seems a no win scenario whichever tow point is used if it failed.
