Pre registered cars - any downside ?
Any downside? I've got a reasonable offer on the table. circa 10% contribution. Cant modify it but its very close to what im after.
Thanks

Is that 10% off vs. new list? I suspect that you can better that on a factory build, certainly should be able to get close or equal it. Dropped you a PM.

downsides would be A) you can choose spec B) if already registered then youre not the first keeper and the warranty has probably already started.

They found one pretty close to what i wanted. Not ideal but ok, And the warranty loss is only a few days.
Thanks for the advice

I’ve seen some ones registered by the garage a month or two and 10 miles on the clock for a £10k discount. Hard to pass up tbh.

Feeling emotional parting with my landmark 😫
New car will have 3 yr warranty
That’s got to worth spending 68k 😂

I've bought lots of Land Rovers and had to make the odd claim and I can say that you get looked after differently by the Manufacturer (not the dealership) if you buy new. For me the difference in price would have to be bigger than 10% to interest me but it's a personal choice. Good luck either way.

No just the 3 year but in my experience LR treat claims differently for brand new as opposed to approved used, which is what a pre registered car actually is. I'd think the dealership will look after you just the same but if I was buying a pre reg car I'd be wanting a saving in the area of what DangerDave has mentioned.

I see , thanks for advice as per
I would have thought LR warranty is just that - manufacturer warranty is something
That 6 months down the line couldn’t be differentiated from one customer to another ?

From an insurance point of view, subject to value of damage/loss, as you aren’t the first registered keeper you won’t get a new vehicle if it happens within the first 12 months.

If dealer treats new and used customers the same, be very careful of your choice of dealer

Hi George, I can only say how it has worked out for me but to put your mind at rest perhaps contact LR Customer Services and ask them if there is any difference at all. In my case I had two issues, that obviously won't affect you. The first was paint issues on wheels on a six month old Range Rover. Had I bought new LR would have replaced the wheels but as it was Approved I had to accept a repair. The second issue was with a leather issue on the drivers seat that LR told me they would have replaced the seat had I bought it new but as it was second hand (still £80,000 but 8 months old) then it was a dealer issue. The dealer didn't want to pay the £2,500 for the new seat and so I ended up rejecting the car.
That said I'm not averse to buy used but it has to make sense financially and if the cost is in the ball park of what it would cost for a new one it's a no brainer to me.

Ah now I understand where your coming from
I think (hope) pre-reg is different from somebody
Else actually owning it
Good point though, not one I had factored
I’m going for it because I have kids and plenty other things to spend my money on
And born tight 😆
