Rear Infotainment - Video Files
Hi,
I've tried in vain to copy various movie files to a USB stick to watch in the rear if the car.
I've tried MP4's but alas, no joy.
Anyone recommend a file type that works?

Mp4 files can be played, have you checked the memory stick has been formatted correctly? I think that it needs to be FAT32 but worth double checking.

try the divx converter
I had similar trouble until I found a post on a range rover site suggesting that divx was the only format supported.
I've tried encoding them with the divx converter and it worked.
I've subsequently tried specifying the MPEG-4 video encoder and the MKV file format in the DVD ripper (handbrake) which also works and saves me the subsequent divx converter step that was taking longer than ripping the DVD.
It seems to be able to read sub directories and I get the impression that it will support them for audio files (not tried it yet - kids first) but for video everything is presented in a single non hierarchical list.
I've not confirmed this but I got the impression that having just one file on the drive that it didn't understand made the whole drive unreadable.

Ah ha!
I did read that the USB stick had to be formatted FAT32 and promptly forgot!
Will try again (I blame the kids for rushing me!!!)
