USB shuffle
Apologies if (a) everyone knows this or (b) this is a pearoast...
Playing around with the MP3s on my USB stick and finding the experience a bit underwhelming (unless someone can tell me how to use playlists), I thought I'd shuffle the songs instead.
Everytime I pressed shuffle, it would start with track #1 (alphanumerically). I eventually made this work, but it's very counter-intuitive.
First you need to select by songs so that at the top of the screen it says "play all nnnn songs".
Hit shuffle and it will, annoyingly, play track #1. And if you hit next [ >> ] it will play track #2.
If, however, you use the touchscreen to drag the progress bar cursor to near the end of track #1, when it finishes playing it, it will start to play songs randomly.
From this point on, you can use >> to skip to the next shuffled song.
Annoyingly again, when you use the car next, you will have to repeat this palaver.

aha about as good as connecting an iPod then, where "find" lists the entire 16000 tracks for you to scroll through manually since there's no option to type or say a specific track or artist. I gave up and use spotify instead now since the iPod is close to useless to the D5 (whereas the old Volvo has the option to type exactly what you wanted, but Spotify only played all selection was on the phone) .
