    Solar Charger.

Does anyone have any experience in fitting a Solar Battery Charger to the D5?

No, but I use a battery tender 5w on my D3, which has dual batteries, and is in storage for extended periods, works like a charm until the snow flies.

    Many thanks for your reply.
That is what I do at home.
However on returning from a foriegn trip at the long term car park were signs advertising a Car Start service in the event of a Flat Battery.
This got me thinking about a battery maintaining charger for use away from home. The D5 also seems to draw current from the batery when not in use. I have had a low battery charge warning having left the car in the garage for a few days. Dealer suggested lock the car so as to switch OFF more systems.

Had mine in an open air car park for 12 days at the airport and a day later again for 14 days. No problem at all to start and no warnings neither.

Reason I mentioned the open air car park is that I have a tracker installed that does draw current. When inside it might draw more (when the car was new and in my garage for a few days I too had low battery warnings, strangely not anymore). But outside it apparently lasts for at least 2 weeks, however at home I do use a battery charger from ctek once and a while to ‘maintain’ the battery and I always have jump starters in the car, but never had to use them.

Correct Labbix, I reported this a few months back on the forum.
If the car has a tracker, and its in the garage, it will not catch any satellites to lock onto, so it's constantly scanning for a signal, thereby using up the battery alot quicker. However, once locked onto a satellite the car goes into sleep mode, so hence the battery drainage is alot less. The LR Assist tech told me this.
(It became such a common problem that the tech would know beforehand that its probably a flat battery, as I was calling him out every 2 weeks when I was working away).
No issues on either cars now thankfully as I have now constructed an all glass garage, complete with rotating turntables Rolling with laughter

I've done 3 weeks in a multistory at the airport with no problems. After 4 days (I think) with the car fully locked it goes into a deeper sleep mode to conserve power. This means you cannot access it from the Landrover app. You can tell it when to wake up again so its ready to receive remote start commands as soon as you get off the plane - which it will probably ignore anyway but that's how it should work.

The setting is on the last page of the Landrover Remote App and is called 'Wake Up Timer'. However, I think you need to have a valid InControl subscription to do this.
