    CarPlay Issues

Hi my Disco 5 finally carried out an OTA update of the infotainment system and CarPlay installed.

Worked great for a day but now when I press the speak button on steering wheel its reverting to engaging the old LR voice system and doesn't recognise any Siri commands.

If someone sends me a text I can reply with Siri but can't get it to activate with voice commands or using the speak button on the steering wheel.

At time of loosing the full functionality I entered the vehicle whilst on iPhone and started engine and plugged iPhone in Airplay came up and I was able to continue conversation but once call finished I couldn't get iTunes or the LR audio system to work but could still make calls.. this rectified itself after car was parked up for a bit and I tried few hours later..

I've powered off phone and un paired and re paired but still can't get back to full functionality..

    Any assistance would be appreciated.

Does the 'Hey Siri' voice command work?

No it doesn't. Only time Siri works is when it self engages after reading a text to allow you to reply..

If you hold the icon of white tiles on the car play screen (bottom right on mine), that kicks Siri into life.

I don’t think the voice button on the steering wheel has ever worked for Siri on my car either via Bluetooth or car play. 19b is no different.

You can also select a name on the text list and Siri will prompt you for a reply.

    Jon,

Thanks for reply tried the suggestion of holding tiles icon and it works.. certainly helps meantime.

Car due service in next month or so.., will ask when in there if steering wheel button should activate and how to resolve.

Holding down the voice button on my steering wheel activates Siri and always has done in the 12 months I have owned the vehicle - 2017 HSE Lux

Seems strange how some work from voice button and direct by "Hey Siri" must be a few bugs in system but I'll ask dealer when cars in see if anything to change in the settings or phone configuration..

'Hey siri' works on the phone (when enabled), it has nothing to do with the car.

It is a shame it will not connect with Apple Carplay on Bluetooth like BMW and Mercs do. So annoying always going through plugging it in

Yes, I think so Jim. I have my phone tethered whenever I am in the car and spend all the time in CarPlay. Summoning siri mutes whatever is happening and she responds through the car speakers.
