SIM problem solved with Data Only SIM
I have a 2017 Discovery 5 which is equipped with a 3G comms module. For three years it worked perfectly with a Virgin Mobile SIM. In May of this year they sent me a new SIM as they were upgrading their network (to a thick MVNO model). The new SIM didn't work. Research showed some people with old 3G phones had the same problem. After speaking to them they said there was nothing they could do, so the contract was cancelled. I then tried a Plusnet SIM, same problem. At this this stage I emailed Land Rover for suggestions. After some toing and froing their technical experts eventually suggested I fit a Data Only SIM. It worked!
As an aside, I installed a Three 12GB Pay As You Go Mobile Broadband SIM. It's valid for 12 months and cost £28.73 from Amazon, equivalent to 1GB/£2.40/month.
