Time to change SD4 HSE is the Si4 any good

    Hi all

It’s time to change our 18my hse

Been looking at 20my hse SD4 as we do sort trips
And never had any issues with the dpf on that

From reports it seem both the SD4 and the SDV6
    Have issues

We only do about 10 k a year would the Si4 work
Has this engine got issues as we could get Hse lux for the same money

    Thanks for your help

If you only do short trips (where you aren't on motorways or runs up to temp), then Petrol will be better for you, but don't expect the petrol engines to be economical. A 4-banger in a car weighing 2.5tonnes will never give more than 20mpg avg, no matter how delicate you are. Smile

My dealer has this new & unregistered Carpathian HSE Lux Si4 in stock if you're interested. He's offering heavy discounts due to it being MY20. Let me know if you're interested and I'll put you in touch with him.

    That’s really nice

Just so worried about dpf issues

Our 2l my 18 hse as been great but they are now starting
To see issues with that engine as it’s close cupelled

Not sure on the sdv6 does that have oils diluted problems

No one really buys the petrol

We have done about 14k in two years in ours

If I wasn't doing really long motorway journeys which gets the engine up to temp, there is no way on earth I'd be buying a diesel JLR product. Petrol all the way, the problem is they get hit residually because everybody wants a Diesel Disco and/or they can't live with the dreadful MPG (you really have to work the 4 banger petrol really hard which means it's always 'on' turbo using fuel.

I had a SDV6 RRS, and that suffered from Oil Dilution issues over a mix of motorway and very short journeys. I've come back to JLR a few years later because my journeys are now 99%long motorway and I'm hoping the brand new D300 has crank/dilution issues resolved. But even now a small part of me wonders if I should have gone for the new P360 and suffered the tax/mpg. Time will tell.

Hang onto your present car. In this climate, who wants to buy a new car? I know mine makes a nice driveway ornament if you’re into that sort of thing. I am certainly not doing the mileage to justify it, particularly now.

I’d put the money into something else personally, land, holiday home, you’ll probably get more enjoyment and it will appreciate over time rather than diminish.
