The trend I see here is "..anybody but a JLR dealer.." , I think thats unfair to the
two remaining dealers who really try, against all odds...

eventually got the car back all fixed and working. took them a week and half to do because they found the spare wheel winch was seized and they ordered the wrong one.
so it has had an ABS wiring loom and a new a spare wheel winch fitted under warranty.
very happy to have it back after having the range rover sport hybrid which was a bit thirsty to run

@Nigel888__ How thursty was the hybrid with an empty battery ?
I ones did a testdrive with a BMW 225 hybrid tourer.
Range was 35km electric. Then it switched to fuel and charging..
About 9 L /100 km petrol... Our 216i gives 6,8 L/100 km !
So unless you charge it from the socket, it will cost you...

fully charged the hybrid had a range of 29 miles on the battery. it took 9 hours to charge on a 3 pin plug obviously it will be faster on a dedicated charger.
fuel consumption spirited driving 20 MPG steady away 25 MPG the engine did not put any charge in the battery at all even on a 189 mile trip even though it showed it was, I suspect that it just tops it up to keep the remaining range the same. so overall when you take into account the slightly cheaper petrol cost but then factor in the electricity charges to charge it the cost per mile of running it is higher than the 3L diesel D5.
also the one I had was the 2 L petrol so although it could move along you could tell it didn't have the same power as mine and if you put a trailer on I think you would notice it more especially uphill.
my trips where 3 hours long 189 mile a time to Birmingham with 31 mile drive each way to site and back so not stop start journeys either.
would I invest in a hybrid. not at the moment the range needs to be better to truly get the benefit. Will it reduce emissions well I personally don't think so as 29 miles is nothing and most of that 29 miles was done to supplement the engine so the engine was still running.
hope that helps
