Ok so I got advice from a few tyre places/specialists. Two said it was not repairable and needed a new tyre, one said they would be prepared to have a go (patch or plug) but weren't sure if it would be succesfull and still said best option was to replace.
My tyres are less than 1yr old and only done ~4000 miles.
I've never bought a part worn tyre before, is it safe to do so? I have building work going on right now (puncture did happen before so theyre not to blame for this one) but I'm paranoid that I'll put a new tyre on and same will happen again.
I'm looking at this tyre but are there questions I need to ask if I go down this route rather than new?

As I have previously said I would repair the screw hole.......but I would never fit a used tyre with unknown history.

Dont see why the OP wont consider a proper major repair that would be perfectly legal which will be circa £30 I suppose it depends what value you put on your life. The biggest problem with the position of the screw is you have to damage more of the wires to fit a plug.than were originally damaged by the screws.

I'm definitely open to having the tyre repaired if legal and safe but nowhere around me seems to think it is doable?
If you know of anywhere that does this I would be interested to know.

The official advice (presumably from tyre dealers!!!) is never to buy a part worn tyre for safety reasons.
Odd that - when we buy a used car we get four part worn tyres and that seems to be OK!

In 2019 I bought a used (4-5mm) 22” Pirelli from eBay when I was planning to go to France with the caravan. (The 22” are hard to find in France and a friend had to wait 4 days to get one shipped in!)
I never went, due to covid, and have changed wheel size since then.
There is nothing wrong with the tyre I bought. So I wouldn’t hesitate at getting the one you posted.
I would buy it and then try to get your tyre repaired as a spare.
Pity you aren’t local to me in Norfolk…you could have this one for free.
Edit; same seller has got another for £10 less ….

I saw that but it had a puncture repair so figured I was better off paying £10 to have a cleaner tyre!

I remember there usd to be on option of sending your tyre away to be hot vulcanised, They could if the damage was limited, even repair sidewall punctures. It won't be cheap, but probably cheaper than a replacement used tyre and you will know the tyres history . see
