    SOS Limited functionality

    Hi Doggieman Dog here!

Just acquired a Discovery 5 and really enjoy it, but I encountered an annoying error message that pops up - SOS Limited functionality

Probably something already brought up but trying in vain to find any information on how to find the telematics box with the battery inside.

Seems that many have had the problem (in my case I guess it is the battery, everything else is working fine and it has never been replaced since car was new)

Can someone give me an understanding:

1, Where to find the telematics box - preferable a description so I can find it, not an overview pic!
    2. How to access the battery and replace it

    It is a Discovery 5 MY 2017

    Would be grateful!

    Thanks in advance!

    I had the error pictured.

I also had starting issues and it turned out to be a faulty telematics control unit.

Hopefully not the same for you. But I believe the module is in the boot offside near the battery.

I did lots of googling and at first thought it was some sort of bad wiring or faulty internal battery in the unit. It was neither.

    Thanks for reply Aldo,

Your error message is a bit different than mine, Tee message I have is that the SOS service is limited.

After a lot of googling it seems that is referring to a battery that is worn out (hopefully).

2017 Discovery Td6 HSE Santorini Black

    Lower left C pillar

If you pull left passenger door rubber seal you will be able to see purple cable and connector that are going to TCU module but not the TCU itself because it is black and it is dark in there, To access TCU you would need to strip upper and lower c pillar panels. Failure of those batteries after 4 years is not normal IMHO and should be covered by CPO warranty, but my dealer has opposite opinion.
The tip of umbrella pointing to the approximate location of TCU.

    Thanks for all repsonses.

After a visit to the repairshop everything went clear!

It was NOT a faulty battery, it was discovered that the car has been through a severe collision and by that some electronic issues has not been repaired fully.

After I realised that I have been able to cancel the deal and get a full refund since the dealer never conveyed that is has been crashed and got branded as "salvage" car.

    Thanks again for your sugggestions!

Woah that is scary! I must admit it crossed my mind with mine when I had that similar error.

Hopefully you’ve managed to replace with another Discovery 5?

I got back my old car since they hadn't sold it yet.

So for the moment I'm back in a Range Rover Sport of year 2013.

Need to find another one but I'll wait for the right one this time Wink
