    Help with identification

I’ve had a few issues with my Disco lately, a MY19 hse lux. But this is a mystery!

This vehicle has spent so much time at the dealers awaiting investigation & repairs, that I can’t actually remember how this used to look,

A 2cm bolt sticking out from the floor pan under the n/s middle seats,
a big issue as when the middle row seats are moved forward, as it’s then totally exposed to any foot placement while entering the rear most seats.

    Not replicated on the o/s

Can anyone confirm this bolt under the middle row n/s seats is standard on a MY19?
If so, what should be fastened on top?

Can’t believe that’s right. Apart from it being ugly, as you say, it’s a potential trip point when accessing the 3rd row.

Over the 10 months of ownership, my motor had spent as much time at the dealers as I’ve had it on the road.
So I do think this bolt is a recent addition after the last set of work done?
but apart from it looking totally out of place & not replicated on the o/s, I can’t recall how it used to look or should look..

Rear most seat access is safer kerbside for obvious reasons, but not anymore.

The only positive is that the dealership are now returning my calls & are in communication re: this bolt & my previous issues / concerns of prolonged water ingresses & future reliability.

Be that down to me emailing head office or cc JLR? but this bolt has probably blessing in disguise.

    That shouldn't be there.

Have you had the car from new? I'm assuming not and that is something added by a previous owner to secure some sort of modification?

    Cheers @JonM
I’m sure this bolt is a recent new addition from when it was in the dealers last week,
Due to an ongoing fault, the n/s seats, carpets & a lot of trim panels have been in & out more times than the French have called strike action.

The weeks & months it’s been in for repair means I couldn’t be 100% be certain of that location shouldn’t have something fixed there.

    Many thanks for the confirmation.

I would be horrified if a technician ‘punched’ a hole in the carpet to accommodate a longer bolt than was needed.

@Wolfpack it gets worse, my heart sank yesterday evening, when on the way home in some wet weather, the words
    “Camera fault detected”
lit up the dashboard & all cameras were offline.

Previously that had been a precursor to damp & then water inside the cabin

Is the camera control module under the drivers seat, like some other JLR models?

I wonder if the terminals/ wiring have become corroded with all the water ingress you have suffered?

Is there any sign that water has got into the car again after the recent downpour experience?

The area around that mystery bolt seemed dry to the touch on Saturday night.
(previously that area had been the starting point for water ingress).
so fingers crossed they did get there 3rd attempt & their last diagnosis / fix spot on.

The weather here had been mostly mild & dry last week, but I will need to check every inch of the flooring later.

I would be Karchering every ‘bodywork gap’ in turn….front, side, top and bottom. That should set your mind at rest…or not.

The bolt is a new addition which needs explanation from the people who have been working on it. At the very least they could replace or remove it.

The cameras? …the control module needs examination I would say.

    Good luck

Had word back from the dealer re: the bolt.

The outcome is the bolt needs readjusting as it shouldn’t be sitting that high.

That sounds like something has been fitted incorrectly under the carpets, (I’ve no idea what sits there)

Bad workmanship refitting of parts / punching holes through carpets / leaving the bolt exposed,
Then release the vehicle back to the customer.

I can’t believe it was never noticed when they refitted the carpets.

If it wasn’t so serious, you could fall about laughing at their engineering skills.

    In the past,
I have been down the dealership while my mota has had its seats & carpeting removed,

I did ask to go have a look for myself, just to see the size of the waterlogged area & to get an idea of how much wiring & components there actually are running along the floor pan!

My request was promptly denied quoting health and safety regulations.

So I still have no idea as to what this bolt is attached to or what lies beneath.

Ask them to send you a video like they do when servicing.
