Rear diff (non locking) confusion
Is the rear diff capacity a measured amount or fill to a thin line starts to drain out?
It’s a non locking diff, and drained out 800ml
Fill to spill (as per the JLR instructions) meant I’ve put about 1.3 litres in.
Have I don’t right, or should I have put 800ml back in and called it a day?

Thanks for the link, that’s the one I used
If I filled it to the drain level it’s 1.3 litres
I drained out 800ml
Every oil guide illustrates a wet refill capacity of 8.2-8.5 litres, hence my confusion!

8.2L for the rear diff???!!!???
I think you are confusing th engine oil quantity with the diff oil quantity.
I have done all the services in my D5 according to the LR service manual.
Engine oil is normally about 7L (tdv6)
Transfer box a bit over 1L
Front diff a bit less than 1L
Rear diff(open) approx 1L
These values are also on the Liquimoly site
I don't know where you got the idea that the rear diff takes 7-8 litres!!
