    Help! Suspension Issue- B1DB7-93

I heard a pop sound while queuing to refuel my D5 a few days ago, the suspension stopped working and the ride has been very bumpy ever since.

I got a diagnosis with code B1DB7-93 Big Cry

What does this mean please, can anyone help interpret?

    Best regards,

    Mo

The pop sound I got meant the suspension compressor seal had failed. £600+ for a garage replacement unit. Cheaper if you diy …..or get an indie garage to simply drill out the rivets in the “sealed” unit and fix the inners.

    Thanks Wolfpack, Much appreciated.

Any direction/ guideline on how to DIY please?

I just got a £800 quote for replacing with a used compressor and £1400 for a new one.

    Regards,

I am assuming that’s JLR dealer quotes…….or maybe I am out of touch?

I got my local indie garage to do it for me a couple of years back, at the same time as a service, as fortuitously it went ‘pop’ 2days before its was due to go in! The actual cost was lost in the total bill but from memory it was only a couple of hours work and a few bits. Send a PM to https://disco5.co.uk/forum/member-tomthumb.html on this forum he had it done recently.

I would give some of the independent LR garages or 4x4 specialist near you a call.

    @Mod5
If it’s the compressor pressure valve that’s at fault,
if your lucky you might hear air escaping from the rear of the boot floor on the o/s after selecting off road hight & closing the doors.

Otherwise the compressor will have to be removed, drill the casing rivets out to check the condition of the valve & compressor.

Parts were c£40 (all in £222) & took 90mins to do, well took the indi 90.
5mins to swap the pressure valve, but 85mins for diagnostics on fault codes / strip down / refit.

    Thanks Tom,

I opened the compressor box and discovered that the black plastic connection to the pump ( expansion valve ) got broken. I've ordered a new one which I planned to install by the weekend .

I'll keep you updated on the progress.

Thanks for your help. Thumbs Up

@Mod5. Gaining access to the compressor is most of the work, replacing the valve & refitting it all should be a hell of a lot quicker.

There are 2 bits that probably need changing, the valve & the coupler iirc.
If I can find the relevant post I’ll drop in a pic.

Just for a reference & for those that stumble upon this thread who have similar symptoms,

At what point did you identify it was the pressure valve as leaking air?
In situ or only after stripping the compressor housing down?

    Thanks Tom,

It was obvious in my case as it was the outer part of the valve that broke.
Any idea where I can buy the coupler please?

Others will definitely know more than lill ō moi, but indi warned that the coupler would be left in a weakened state,
so for a few ££, your better off replacing the connector while it’s out, but for the life of me I can’t find the form post stating the same.

    IIRC connector was £12 ish
When home later ill check invoice for said connector & hopefully part #

    Thanks Tom,

All sorted and working well. It's a pretty easy and straightforward job.

I was able to re-use my connector without any problems. The only trick is to ensure you don't break the metal ring inside it. Mind you, the ring is fragile as it breaks at the slightest attempt to expand it. So the trick is to compress the plastic tube inside the ring at both ends and slide it out for re-use on the new expansion valve unit.

Hope this helps someone trying to achieve same.

I do appreciate everyone that have contributed to making this possible.

    Thanks and best regards,
