I would imagine that's all it does apart from also switching off rear sensors and I have that blind spot monitoring (indicates in wing mirror when something approaches ) it also switches off. I assume it dosnt alter any engine mapping as it won't know whether you're pulling a little trailer or large caravan/horsebox.

I was thinking more about whether the suspension changes. As I don't see anything that says "trailer connected" I was wondering whether some of my trailer concerns were due to something not adjusting when the caravan is hooked up.

Right not thought of that. Sort of stiffen up. Good point but don't know.

Just seen this on a caravan forum. Talking about the VW Touareg. But wonder if the same applies. Shame I've just seen it.

Please note if selecting the excellent (we've had three) Touareg as a tow car (3.5t towing limit, 2.2t car weight, 140kg nose weight) to choose the air suspension (optional) but avoid the electrically deployed tow hitch. The hitch is stored where most of the world's crud seems to accumilate causing the ball to rust and pit badly (despite wire brushing and emery tape). This in turn causes the hitch pads to wear excessivley (pad replacement is a diy task but not without its own difficulties). The only cure, as the ball cannot be greased and is not a servicable part, is complete tow bar replacement (£1000+). Then you get to watch the next ball rust.. .
