account settings
Hi all
I went into Stratstone landrover today to get the previous owner taken off the cars account, and me put on. Which they did and they came out to the car and reset it in there. I have now been able to finish the
in control app and set up my account. However on the sat nav screen it asks me to sign into my account. When i do it says that it doesn't recognise my email address. I have tried everything. So do any of you guys have any ideas please.
Thanks

I'm still having issues with that as well...for some reason, the car isn't connecting to the internet and refuses to let me sign in to my account. The inControl remote app works fine but the on board navigation is a no go since I can't have live traffic or the usual features.
I've given up with the onboard stuff and just continued to use Google maps and Satnav with Android auto via my phone.

Just sorted it, i had to make a separate account with land rover navigation.
This is the link

To get it to use your phone as a hot spot, enable it in the settings on your infotainment. Turn hot spot on, on your phone.
Then search on the infotainment connections for your phone data. You will have to input the connection name and password your phone gives you, and it should connect

Yeah, done all that but still no go for me. Everything else works but the car refuses to connect to the internet with the on board sim. I suspect it's the Android auto Bluetooth dongle I have fitted that's preventing the on board sim from connecting...After a few days of messing around with it, I just got bored trying to make something work that I realistically won't ever use.
Android auto or Apple CarPlay are so good that the Land Rover onboard stuff is of very limited use to be fair. With the Bluetooth dongle, I don't even have to plug my phone in. By the time I've started the engine, it's already connected and up and running without taking my phone out of my jacket pocket...

I think this may be the way for me to go.

I got this one about 7 months ago, it had overall good reviews and it's been faultless since I stuck it in the slot. Easy pairing between the phone/car and dongle, took seconds to set up and get running. No additional phone apps or software, it just pairs, connects and works.
Ottocast Bluetooth dongle
There are plenty of dongles from different manufacturers available at all sorts of price range and there's not much to pick between them to be honest.

Mole, if yours is a 2017 model, you might be unlucky that the built in SIM is 3G only and all the networks are turning off 3G.
There have been many people rather unhappy about this as there is no way to upgrade the older cars to 4G.
MY2026 D5 Metropolitan D350 - on order......
MY2022 D5 HSE D300 - current, MY2019 D5 HSE SD6 - sold

I have a late 2018, Land rover documents list it as a 2019. Should that be ok.
Also do i need a sim in the car to make it work, i was using my phone as a hot spot.

I'm beginning to think that's exactly the issue, Jon. The Bling Barge was first registered 2nd of March 2017...so a very early D5. Fortunately, whoever first orded it from Land Rover had deep pockets and added every conceivable optional extra or package available on the HSE model at the time. (minus a heated steering wheel and deployable towbar strangely enough).
No matter though, like I said, I'd probably never use the onboard navigation software even if it worked

The dongle doesn't need an on board sim at all. It's totally independent of the on board software...the only reason I bought a data sim was to get the LR navigation software working.
Even the LR software updates still work since the car picks up the wifi signal from the house...it's just the on board data sim that won't connect. Like Jon said, the receiver in my car, being a 2017 model, is probably limited to 3G...where as with my phone, the car can happily receive/send in 4G via Android Auto. Even 5G when available.

Ok thank you, never used one before. The car i had before was still in warranty, and all updates ect were automatic. My kids both use Android auto, and swear by it, never used it myself.
