    LISTEN for the Windscreen leak!

Ok I have yet to fix the leak but I believe I know where it actually is.

After overnight rain I went to the car that had been prepped with kitchen towel wedges in every suspected nook and cranny. Including around the now dried out carpets mentioned on another thread.

The only damp paper was hanging from the head trim right in front of my eyeline.

I poured some water into the ‘gutter’ generated by the glass and the rubber and watched the bead very slowly drop preferentially, about a foot inboard ……approx in-line with my soggy tissue observation.

So I started thumping gently the top of the windscreen glass with the heel of my hand.

    LISTEN to the attached video…

(Appologies for the quality I am no Steven Spielberg**)

Also notice at the end of it, I created a bubble in the gutter and squeezed out some droplets onto the inside of the windscreen in the same position as the noise change and soggy tissue.

Methinks I’ve found the exact leak point….now can I seal it????]

Time for …..Captain Tolley’s Creeping Crack Cure.

** Those eagle eyed will no doubt spot the presence of the telltale droplets before I started thumping.

This was my “take2” ….after I fell off the ladder swearing profanely the first time I did it. That video was too funny and foul mouthed to grace this forum. Whistle

Your clever technique for finding the gap in the sealant would have been worth all the swearing, I'm remembering it in case my windscreen ever has a leak Thumbs Up

Let's hope Cap'n Tolley with his one leg and a case of the creeping cracks can cure it Whistle

Update….after dousing with Captain Tolleys Creeping Crack Cure the ‘sound’ on the windscreen has changed ….my thump is now a consistent tone across the screen. Is it too soon to be optimistic?

Waiting (nervously) for a downpour having removed all external shelter.

Looking forward to driving my Discovery, without a towel across my lap. Wink

    Great work "Wolfie".

Don't be surprised if you need to dose with Tolleys a few times, if the cracks are too big, a number of applications can be required.

I’m on my 2 Discovery and 3rd leak it’s a joke, we need to get a group action together. Land Rover have known about the problem for 10 years and haven’t sorted it. Land Rover has issued a Technical Service Bulletin (3) to address the problem by having dealerships inspect and, if necessary, replace the windshield free of charge under the Service Action N221 program. Which to me admits there’s a problem
