Discovery 6?
Any news on when the D5 will be phased out and a replacement arrive? The D5 configurator looks to be full of run out models but news appears very thin on the ground as to what next.

The JLR sites like TOPIX show a MY27 for the D5, then nothing after that.
MY26 is being delivered now, MY27 will be available to order from May 26 with delivery starting September 26.
Unless they stretch the D5 to MY28, the D6 should be announced Spring 2027 with deliveries starting September 2027. That's just my guess, I don't have any official information.

There was a fair bit of speculation a while ago that there would not be a Discovery 6.... Lots of talk of some kind of People Carrier replacing it with a gap in production between the old and the new. That was quite a while ago, and with all the disruption in the industry and JLR in particular, who knows what the plan is now.

I've also seen speculation that the D6 will be some sort of MPV camper van with off-road abilities. I have no idea how accurate that is.
What I have seen a lot from official JLR sources is statements along the lines of "We are committed to the discovery brand" and "Our future is the three distinct brands Defender, Discovery and Range Rover".
I'm sure there will be a D6. I'm not sure that it will be something I'll buy.

The cynic in me would say that like every other business, given the incentive (Brexit, pandemic, hacked) they will find a way to trim down their overheads / aspirations to focus on the most profitable models….and forget what was in their vision. I never really thought the Discovery was a realistic 3rd leg….any anyway 3 legged dogs will always limp.

Protype Velar EV has been spotted on the road today, I think for the first time.
We know that there's a Defender Sport enroute. There's a new Freelander launching in China and Range Rover EV is coming soon aswell. I've heard whispers that they're already building production Range Rover EVs though I'd happily be corrected if somebody knows better.
It was between Velar and Discovery for who gets the next refresh.
JLR are building EV platforms to use on all of their models.
It's a shame that Discovery 6 seems to be at the bottom of the totem pole though I have to appreciate that there is alot of work happening in the West Midlands right now - not forgetting that there's likely a handful of new Jaguars in the works too.
I think the 2028 prediction is quite realistic. Bravo for 12 Years of L462 production

I would imagine it has.
I'm not a betting man but I'd put petty cash on that it'll be an MPV vehicle in the leagues of Volvo EM90, Mercedez-Benz EQV & Volkswagen ID Buzz. I think there's a customer hunger for a "lifestyle" ('vanlife'?) -esque vehicle and Land Rover can really leverage some brand recognition here..
..oh wait- it might not have a green oval on it.

I jest. (I hope)
