    Fuel filler flap lock

Recall seeing a thread about some cars not having a locking fuel flap - does anyone know if the wiring/connector is behind the fuel filler assembly (apparently on some Defenders it is) in which case can this be resolved (and risk of fuel theft/contamination avoided) by having the missing motor/solenoid latch installed (there is a video on line of this being done on a Defender!)....or is that an overly simple solution?!

    Thanks, looks like a workaround.
Waiting to check car, but can you confirm if the filler surround casing on yours has a hole where the solenoid pin would pop through to lock the filler flap latch?, as if so it may be a simple job to instal the solenoid provided the wiring is there which it is likely to be if it was just a parts shortage causing the solenoid to be omitted!

By Eck! I remember when we all had those ……during the fuel crisis in 1970s. I’ve still got some of the fuel coupons in the drawer somewhere.

Yeah, I was briefly stationed at Catterick during the fuel crisis...all of us that had HGV's with a haz-chem certificate got dragged in to driving relief tankers to fuel stations up and down the country...

During the mid to late 70's and the infamous winter of discontent...I covered the bin lorry drivers strike, the ambulance drivers strike, the tanker drivers strike (twice) and the firemans strike...

The British army...never really wanted in government budgets, but always way too handy when civilisation breaks down for a few weeks Rolling Eyes
