Front seats after dropping rear seats
I’ve got a problem that’s probably user error but I can’t seem to sort it.
When I open the tailgate and drop the rear ( row 2 ) seats, the front seats move forward. They never return to their original position which makes getting in the front of the car after moving the rear seats impossible.
Should the front seats return to their correct driving positions and what am I doing wrong please?
The rear seats are lowered by a button that’s in the load space. Sequence appears to be:
Press button
Headrests drop ( rear )
Front seats move forward.
Rear seats fold.
Should I keep holding the button also?

Not sure about the front seats moving forward...I'm a bit of a short

so my seats tend to be quite far forward anyway. If they do indeed move forward, I've certainly not noticed them being left in the wrong position with the 2nd row seats either up or down...
I don't
think you need to hold the switch down for folding or raising the 2nd or 3rd row seats though...one long press and let go should do it. They work similar to the automatic up/down electric window switches as far as I know. I've been holding the switches too although I've seen videos of folks just pressing the buttons the once.
Just a thought...do you have any seat memory positions stored to your own preferences? It might have absolutely nothing to do with it...but the thought just struck me for some reason. The front seats may be returning themselves to a previously stored memory setting you haven't overridden.
I really hate jumping in the car after my son has driven it since he's 6' 4" and his legs are about a foot longer than mine...I can't reach the brake pedal to start the engine until I've pressed the short

seat memory button.

Same issue here. Front seats do not go back to original position after second row drop or rise. Very frustrating. When lifting third row second row does move back to original.

ALL the buttons ….rear seat lowering from rear, 3rd row access on top of second row seat back and the recline lever on seat base, should work automatically with one touch, though you can hold your finger on it if you want. I didn’t think the front seat should move forward when lowering the 2nd row from the rear of the car….mine doesn’t.
The only time the front seat moves forward is when I press the 3rd row access button (on top of the seat back) and physically pull the 2nd seat forward to give easier foot access to 3rd row,
I wonder if your front seat is further back so the 2nd row senses its proximity and moves out of the way? As I say…mine doesn’t but that may be my front seat positioning.
Which begs the question…do any of these forced front seat moves happen if someone is sitting on the seat? My wife has never mentioned it and she has been in the car when I’ve dropped the 2nd row to load her mobility scooter and other stuff.
I’ve just been doing a lengthy investigation of 2nd row seat movements after a security update messed with their configuration. ( see thread Dealer Diagnostics) The seat recline button lost it auto function and clicked every time I moved it. The 3rd access button would recline automatically but needed finger contract to raise it. Similarly the 2nd row recline from load space panel reclined auto my but needed finger contact to raise it. An indie diagnostic gave 4 seat module faults but it needed the main dealer to clear!
The general consensus was the seat has lost it start and end travel reference points and needed recalibration. Maybe it’s something you need to check.

I'm now dreading taking the Bling Barge down to Inverness in a fortnight for the security update...

After my experiences, I would be getting them to do a REcheck for error codes AFTER the software update…..before you leave the building!
1 Steering judders
2. Driver Window inoperative
3. Seat module error
I got a single knock on pulling away from a dead stop coming from the back seat suggesting it wasn’t locking correctly on movement.
I would certainly check ALL recline, seat lowering mechanism levers and buttons for correct behaviour before departure.
That said …I really do feel the car is driving better than before…..much calmer??
The technician who sorted my seat module errors said that the updates DO flush a lot of the cars driving ‘learnt’ characteristics…….it clearly deduced I was driving it like a maniac.
It’s now back in Vicar mode

The seats may need recalibrating. It's an easy job with a diagnostic tool plugged in. My previous D5 seemed to forget it's calibration 3 times for no apparent reason. The tell-tale sign was a clunk-click from the row 2 seats every time the car accelerated to 6mph. But it also affected seat folding and unfolding.
MY2026 D5 Metropolitan D350 - finally arrived after the cyber attack.
MY2022 D5 HSE D300 - sold....MY2019 D5 HSE SD6 - sold

Nice one Jon, at least now I know if the update messes with my seat calibration, it can be fixed with an IID tool.
