Misfire sdv6 or just restricted performance
Hi guys
I am desperately looking for some help or guidance, the other day foolishly or not cleaned the throttle body out with some carb cleaner since then the engine has been suffering with a misfire or similar. It appears to be only from the bank on the drivers side.
Obd fault codes are:-
P00bf
P2621
P0102
P010c
P0107
I have replaced the throttle body and coded that into the car
Smoke tested the manifolds throttle body etc for air leaks again all fine.
Replaced the MAF sensor on the drivers side bank
It’s been recovered to a local Garage whim has removed all the diesel injectors and has them professionally tested- all came back fully functional no faults found?
Garage believes stuck open valve perhaps?
Requiring the rocker cover to be removed and then replaced/renewed both sides of course.
Anyone had anything similar?
The car starts but won’t rev up. Throttle in the throttle body moves in reaction to the pedal but that’s it. Distinct smell of unburnt fuel from the exhaust.
Any info guidance gratefullly accepted.

Hi Dtac.
I don't think you cleaning the throttle body had much to do with this, if the butterfly valve isn't sticking and the boost sensor isn't chucking out turbo overboost warnings on the dash, you should be fine... From the symptoms you describe, it still sounds suspiciously like a MAF sensor rather than anything mechanically complicated like air leaks, injectors or stuck valves, I looked up the fault codes on your list and it offered this...
Quote:
The P00BF fault code in a Discovery 5 SDV6 indicates a problem with the Mass or Volume Air Flow "B" sensor circuit, which may affect engine performance. Common causes include faulty sensors, air leaks, or issues with the powertrain control module (PCM).
The P0102 fault code indicates that the mass air flow (MAF) sensor is sending a low voltage signal to the engine control unit (ECU), which can lead to performance issues like rough idling and poor acceleration. Common causes include a dirty sensor, electrical issues, or air leaks in the intake
P010c fault code also points to the B circuit MAF sensor....as I suspect do all the others. So, looks like either the B circuit MAF sensor or a PCM fault...just going by the fault codes...
My 2017 3.0L TD6 only has one MAF sensor (single airbox and turbo), I'm not sure if your twin turbo 3.0L SDV6 has 2 MAF (A and B) sensors like the SDV6 D4 had. It has twin air boxes so it should have 2 MAF sensors. I've never been under the bonnet of an SDV6 D5 so excuse my ignorance.
Might also be worthwhile checking the boost sensor at the back of the throttle body. There's no error code or turbo overboost warning on the dash to indicate it's an issue, but there again, since you've replaced the throttle body...I'd still check the connector if nothing else.
Let us know how you get on when you find the cause of the problem. It's always helpful should someone else come across the same issue.

Hi Mole,
I had cause to replace the throttle body on my tdv6.
I installed a third party throttle body and started getting all sorts of faults showing up.
Turned out to be simply poorly fitting air intake and egr pipe.
It was also a pita to fit.
Eventually fitted an original lr throttle body, simplest installation, everything fitted and all the fault messages disappeared.
Don't know if that's relevant to this problem?
