    Format of music stored on usb

    Can anyone give an insight of the do's and don't's of setting up a 23MY pivi pro system to access music on a USB stick?
    I have a USB that worked on D4 but not being recognised at all on D5! I iGuide hasn't helped, are there size limits, disc format and music file formats that anyone knows works? Also, can music be downloaded/ stored on the car hard drive? (I don't think there is an accessible drive unlike the D4 which allowed a virtual CD system!)

    Compatible portable devices include:

    USB mass storage devices, e.g., a memory stick. Devices must use NTFS or FAT32.

    NOTE:
    External hard drives are not recommended for use. Doing so could reduce the life of the device.

    NOTE:
    It is recommended that the USB mass storage device does not exceed 128GB. USB mass storage devices exceeding the maximum recommendation could cause a malfunction of the infotainment system.

    NOTE:
    Depending on the memory size of the USB mass storage device, a time delay may be evident before the stored files can be accessed.

    Apple iPod devices using a lightning connector: iPad, iPod Touch, iPod Mini and iPhone Gen5 onward are supported. Full functionality for older devices cannot be guaranteed.

    NOTE:
    Album artwork displays if the iPod device is fully supported. Some Generation level devices cannot recognise or support the album artwork.

    If connecting an iPod, mass storage, or Bluetooth® wireless technology device, use the touchscreen to operate and search the device.

    NOTE:
    The media system plays MP3, AIFF, M4A, FLAC, AAC, and ALAC files. Other formats are available.

    NOTE:
    If a software update has been activated on the connected portable media device, it is necessary to restart the media device. Restarting the device makes sure the update is recognised by the media system.

    To maximise playback quality, it is recommended that lossless compression is used for any media files on USB mass storage devices. Failing this, it is recommended that compressed files utilise a minimum bit rate of 192 kb/s. A higher bit rate is strongly recommended.

    NOTE:
    Some MP3 players have a file system that is not supported by the system. To use an MP3 player, set it to USB Removable Device or Mass Storage Device mode.

    Hi has anybody tried a memory stick in the 2025 model, i only have USB C in the front console and by the cubby box, i don't have a USB C stick and don't want to buy one if it will not work

    Got a 26my Defender, but use a usb c to usb a converter to play music off a usb stick, works fine.

    Update, probably easy for you all but for an old pipe fitter i feel like an IT specialist. I have now got a USB converter, i dragged and dropped a load of tunes from i tunes, i couldn't take an album so made a folder, called it the album name and dropped them in, it seems to work fine.
    still prefer my Ipod Classic but will get used to it Very Happy

    Android Auto or Apple CarPlay is the way to go for music in the car...if you can think of any song or album ever made or want to make a playlist of your favourite stuff, just press the big talk button on your steering wheel, speak the words, turn up the volume and sing along at the top of your lungs. It's like having your own voice controlled jukebox in the car.

    You can use Apple CarPlay to access your entire iTunes library direct or Android Auto (for those of us who don't do the iPhone thing) for Spotify or other music streaming apps. It's not like you have to physically store the music on your phone or anything.

    The days of plugging any sort of mass storage media into a slot to listen to your fave tunes in the car have long since gone. Your phone is already linked to your car (or it should be by now)...why not use that to stream your entire music library rather than faffing about loading mp3 files onto USB sticks when all you need is a 4G signal and a phone app?

    Like the occasional listen to Audio books? Yup...on the same phone app.

    Although I'm a bit slower on the uptake than your average teenager, I kinda enjoy and play around with this new fangled stuff that all talks to each other rather than avoid it. I'm in my late 60's, jumped out of aeroplanes and got shot at for most of my adult life... so none too bright either...but I've been using Spotify through Android Auto for my car tunes almost longer than the rapidly fading grey cells can remember...
