    D300 engine cover rubbing.

Hi, I had a rattle from the engine cover which wasn’t bad but could be heard with the bonnet up.
Having had a look it was fouling at the back of the cover and this was transmitting the engine vibrations through the cover.
A quick 5 minutes with the dremel and all sorted.
I’m guessing this is the same on all D300 and D350 engines so hopefully it will help if you have the same issue.

There should be a rubber bush in the hole on the engine cover and all 4 of them should push down on to upward pointing plastic balls that retain the cover in place.

It shouldn't be making any contact with anything metal.

Are you sure it's the correct cover for your engine?

Hi Jon, I do have four of the rubber bushes in place but I have an extra bracket on the engine cover and it was this one that was rubbing.
I'm guessing the covers were designed for different engines unless mine is missing a fitting but they usually only have four.
Perhaps someone could have a look and clear this one up.
