Thanks for letting me into the forum. I’ve just moved from an F-Pace to a 2020 MY Discovery 5 and really enjoying it.
I’m hoping you can help with a query, as I don’t have any other D5’s to compare against. When I purchased the car, I noticed that Jack boot cover wasn’t shutting properly and after reseating the jack, I can now get it to close but I’m worried about the fact the base of the jack sits on the earth strap that’s in that compartment. It seems strange as I would have thought over time that the jack would rub on the wiring.
Can I please ask other D5 owners if this is standard and the jack should be resting on the earth strap or has my car being altered?
Thanks!

The jack should be in a bag along with the wheel brace, it should also be held in place by a rubber bungee strap to stop it rattling about once fitted into the cavity. It should also be resting on a piece of grey foam padding to keep it off the wiring...Hang on...I'll go out and take some pics of mine for comparison.
Apologies that my boot insert is in the way, but it's a pain to take out just for the sake of a pic or 2.
Thanks Mole HD, that’s exactly what I was looking for! The boot insert looks great 👍
I have the jack in the bag, but at the moment it’s sitting directly on the earth wires in that cavity when strapped in, as I don’t have the foam underneath. Is it just a soft foam block it should be sat on? If so, I’ll try hunt it down under the boot floor!
Aye, it's just a loose rectangular bit of foam block padding...if you have an old sofa cushion or anything like that lying about, just hack a bit off and squash it in there.
The foam block sometimes gets shoved back toward the light fittings or further forward toward the battery compartment, it may well be in there somewhere.
It's just a posh boot organiser from Land Rover official D5 accessories...Mrs Mole was forever complaining that the boot looked like the inside of a tinkers caravan with all the tool bags and bits n bobs I shoved in there...just in case kinda stuff.
I'm still not sure if I like it or not. It raises the floor level of the boot significantly so stuffing bags of shopping under the load cover can be a pain, not to mention it has to come out if you need a flat loading space with the 2nd row seats lowered.
It also needs to be removed to access the spare wheel winch or if I ever need to cart my tool box around. The boot organiser being plastic has a weight limit of 35 kg on top...the 5 drawer top box from my main tool cabinet that has most of my commonly used tools weighs more than I do.
Besides that, the organiser certainly keeps the boot tidier looking and it's deceptively spacious...
My boot went from usually looking like this...
...to being able to shove all the usual accoutrements like a Ctek charger, a generic diagnostic tool and a battery booster pack (for others, not for me), a can of WD40, cleaning gear, tow rope and random small tools I normally had rumbling about in the boot being hidden away inside the boot organisers dual compartments...it's also lockable. Like I said though, there are a few drawbacks with having it fitted, and all just for the sake of making the boot look tidier. The jury is still out as to whether It'll stay fitted or not.
There's only a couple of quick release clips to undo in the removing of it, so it's not like it's bolted in or anything...but still...if you regularly use your boot for anything more serious than shoving in bags of shopping outside Tesco, it could well be more bother than it's worth.
