    Dealership closure

    Group 1 (the artist formerly known as Inchcape) have closed their dealership in my hometown.

    It now means a 45mile trip to the nearest JLR dealer.

    At one time, I would have said that was short sighted for a major UK agricultural area, but I guess farmers are turning away from JLR products as workhorses. Or maybe more and more people have had enough of 2nd class service from main dealers and using independent garages?

    Was at Landrover service centre yesterday (formally a full blown Landrover dealer), Land Rover policy is to thin down dealerships aiming to have 1 dealer per county and centred in, or close to, the main city as that's where their main customers are now.

    So it seems it’s more a case of JLR dropping Group 1 then.

    I discounted buying a Porsche a couple of years back because the nearest dealer/service centre was 40+miles away. Will watch with interest to see if Merc, BMW, Audi &Volvo vacate the town eventually.

    As far as Norfolk is concerned your new car dealer is Duckworths in Norwich which i believe bought the Vertu dealership as Vertu are disposing of all there LR sites.
