My engine bay has recently started smoking. Took a video of it today.
Now, couple of things to note.
1. I know nothing about cars.
2. Ive sprayed ALOT of WD40 into the hood hinges (which did douse the Engine Cover)
3. It seems to have also pooled at the bottom end.
Hopefully this link works.
Any help much appreciated
From what I saw on the video, it doesn't look like surface WD40 causing the smoke, it looks more like there's something spraying or leaking onto the engine when you rev it. From checking the pooling on the bottom end, is it diesel or oil? I can't tell from the photos.
I had thought it was me over spraying WD40, but reading online, Diesel and WD40 have similar smells when burning. So i'm now thinking this is a diesel leak.
The pipe on top is the EGR pipe that feeds in to the intake housing.
If it's diesel the most likely source would be a leak off pipe on the injectors.
Try and have a look at the injectors and see if one is obviously wet.
No, the injectors are under the foam cover in the middle of the rocker cover / inlet manifold.
You can't remove the foam easily but can lift it to see what is going on.
Is it definitely diesel?
See if you can see the leak off lines from the injectors as this will be the most likely source.
They will be under the foam cover which is blue on the attached screen shot.
The second screen shot then shows the leak off pipes themselves.
It might take a bit of dismantling as I can't remember what is in the way.
