It makes the traction control less aggressive. With DSC on, if the car detects a wheel spin or skid, it will cut power and apply the brake to the spinning wheel. With DSC off, it allows the engine to keep powering despite a moderate wheel spin.

If you get stuck in mud/snow/sand, the first thing to try to get yourself free is to turn off DSC and give it plenty of power.

On the movie I posted, the section where Andrew is driving behind me, he snakes the car twice, first it looks quite gentle, and thats because the DSC is detecting a slide and cutting power, but then he switches off the DSC and you can see the difference as he shoots past me!

This is very helpful Gareth. I remember this was also suggested ages ago(10 years) on the Disco3 site, but couldn't remember what turning DSC off did. A useful reminder. Thank you!

I'd be very interested to hear what you felt were the key differences between the 4 and the 5, and how great the improvements have been beyond the obvious cosmetic differences.

Hello Gareth. Forgive me for not knowing all the players, but does the part you are talking about start around 0:50-55 where the redish D5 is behind you, and then runs to about 1:20?

Also if that is correct and this is just for my knowledge, are you saying the other driver was applying about the same amount of throttle both for both attempts?

    Thanks
